"This herb is highly toxic and can only be taken internally in its processed form. [...] While the toxicity of this herb is reduced by basic methods of preparation, it is still quite toxic, and is generally considered to be unprepared or "raw." It is called unprepared Sichuan aconite main root (Sheng Chuan Wu / 生川乌 [生川烏]). In any event, it is considerably more toxic than cooked aconite main root of any kind, and should therefore not be taken internally." (Bensky, p. 679)
