Translation Dr. Ger : H-195 - (Chuan-pei-mu) - "Fritillaria roylei" - FRITILLARY; CALADIUM.
"Prior to the Ming dynasty the various forms of this herb were undifferentiated and only the term Bei Mu / 貝母 is found in the literature. However, since the least the time of Li Shi-Zhen, a distinction often appears between the herb grown in Sichuan, called Chuan Bei Mu / 川貝母, and that grown in Zhejiang, called Zhe Bei Mu / 浙貝母. [...] Fritillariae Cirrhosae Bulbus (Chuan Bei Mu) is usually preferred." (Bensky, pg. 378)
